In 1851 Eben Dyer Jordan and Benjamin Lloyd Marsh opened Massachusetts’ first department store on Boston’s Pearl Street. There followed a 150-year history of expansion and innovation in retail and customer service until Boston’s beloved Jordan Marsh was finally sold to Macy’s in the 1990s. Come learn more about the fascinating history of the Jordan Marsh department store empire from author Anthony Sammarco!

In addition to Jordan Marsh: New England’s Largest Store, Anthony is the author of more than 50 books about the history of his hometown, on topics ranging from the Baker Chocolate Company, to the Back Bay in the Victorian era, to Boston’s Great Fire of 1872.
