Join us for 'DISCOVERY KIDS', our series of afterschool, interactive, enrichment programs for children grades K-4, which expose kids to the wonders of our scientific and natural world.

Join Steve Lechner of The Science Works for this exciting program on magnetic marvels!   Magnets are amazing materials, with an almost “magical” force can help objects float, spin, and fly right before your very eyes. This class with Mr. Steve will focus on the marvelous properties of magnets as children experiment with what a magnet is, what it is attracted to, and how you can then use that force of attraction to manipulate objects. Once the students have helped to discover what a magnet actually is, we will experiment with magnets and everyday household objects to measure the force of attraction and repulsion between magnets and magnets, and magnets and metals. Over the course of the workshop we will even learn a little “magnetic-magic”!

Required online registration starts Monday, December 18 at 9:00 a.m.

NOTE:  Children traditionally will go into the program without their parents/caregivers.   HOWEVER, FOR THIS PROGRAM, AT THE PERFORMER'S REQUEST, CAREGIVERS PLEASE BE PREPARED THAT YOU MAY BE REQUESTED TO COME IN TO THE PROGRAM TO HELP OUT WITH THE HANDS-ON COMPONENT.  ALSO, CHILDREN ARE EXPECTED TO BE ABLE TO SIT INDEPENDENTLY DURING THE PRESENTATION.  ANY INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR MAY RESULT IN THE CAREGIVER HAVING TO SIT WITH THE CHILD.

This program is funded by the Family Friends of the Billerica Public Library.
